NEW DELHI: Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the first BJP Prime Minister of India. Narendra Modi, on the other hand, became the Prime Minister at a time when the BJP turned out to be the biggest political force in the country. Both are loved by BJP workers and leaders alike.
Now, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has pointed out the main difference between the governments under the two BJP stalwarts. Rajnath Singh, who is a member of the Lok Sabha from Lucknow, has the unique achievement of serving as a minister in the Vajpayee government as well as the Narendra Modi government.
Rajnath Singh said that during the term of the Vajpayee government, the world did not take India's words seriously when speaking at international forums. He, however, said that things have changed today as the world is paying attention to what India has to say. "Today the world is paying attention to what India is saying. This is an indication that India's position has grown to such an extent," he said.
"India's position in the defence sector has risen during the Modi government. The time is not far from when India's military might become the greatest in the world. The defence sector has been strengthened. When the Narendra Modi government came to power, it gave high priority to the defence sector," Rajnath Singh said.
